CNC Split Gearbox V2 (8mm) (Black) - QSC

The package includes one split gearbox V2 and all the necessary screws, and spring guides.

The CNC Split V2 Gearbox is designed for airsoft replicas to fit M4, M16 models and other similar designs that can fit the V2 gearbox. These can also be used in Gel Blasters and fit most lower receivers.

Note* modifications may be required for APS upper & lower receivers, some functions such as the charging handle and dust cover (and Slide catch) might be lost, unless modifications are made.

This gearbox is manufactured by Retroarms from one solid block of aircraft aluminium (Dural) EN AW 7075 T651, which has higher strength (590MPa), than common construction steel (390MPa). Because of the material used, their gearboxes have the best durability and resilience than common zinc-aluminium V2 gearboxes. We are manufacturing these gearboxes on our precise CNC milling machines in our factory. The detail in brackets (8mm) means diameter for bushings/bearings.

"Split gearbox" means, that this gearbox is designed as a two-part, Upper and Lower. Having a split gearbox has many advantages. For example, much easier installation of the inner parts into the gearbox. During setups of your cylinder set, there is no need to remove the whole gearbox from your receiver, only the upper part can be dismounted, because it‘s mounted on one receiver pin. 

Nozzle: Be aware of the nozzle length, use the same existing nozzle size if you can. The length can be influenced by many factors, for example, the angle of the tapped plate or the different lengths of the front part of the nozzle. In these scenarios, you will need a different nozzle length.

We made some useful improvements into our CNC split gearboxes V2:

Key Features:

• Spring holders have grooves, so the springs for tapped plate and trigger switch will not jump off.
• Added groove for safety lever, so it will hold during installation.
• Added groove for trigger spring, for better fitting.
• AOE control hole.
• Sockets for bushings/bearings have a smaller diameter about -0,02mm (7,98mm), for non-overturning the bushings during installation. The socket edges are cut down for better installation.
• We enhanced grooves for wiring for 1mm, you can now use wirings with 2,5mm diameter.
• Added protecting edge for wiring against the motor.
• All threads are now shaped instead of cut for better strength.
• Both of the gearbox parts are centred by milled grooves and edges.
• Added hole for releasing anti-reverse latch.
• To enhance durability, we reinforced the cylinder head area of the gearbox. This critical part now features an additional 100% more material, particularly around the large radius, ensuring greater strength and reliability.
• Added groove for anti-reversal latch spring, so it will not jump off.
• Outer edges are now cut off.
• You can find what type of sockets gearbox have on the outside part of the gearbox (8mm or 9mm).

RetroArms gearbox has a quick spring change system QSC, where you can put out the whole spring guide with a hex key and change the spring without the need to open the gearbox. In this solution, you need to secure the spring guide with screw, commonly with M4 platforms, it is held by a stock screw. In situations where you have folding stocks or no stock at all, you have to secure the spring guide with QSC screw. Otherwise, there could be a situation, where the spring guide will catch with the spring. This is because the spring guide is not fixed in the gearbox but will be for easy removal with a hex key.

Space for trigger switch is designed for compatibility with trigger switches, and trigger units from common manufacturers for example: Gate, etc.

The CNC Gearbox V2 features a protective anodized coating, despite the challenges of anodizing aluminium EN AW 7075 T651 (Dural) due to its high strength and hardness. Without this anodization, the material would be highly susceptible to corrosion, resulting in large grey spots and a deteriorated appearance.

The RetroArms CNC gearbox V2 were originally designed for airsoft however, they are compatible with Gel Blasters M4 and other Gel Blasters platforms that use a V2 gearbox.

Do not use excessive force during installation. That means even the inner parts. Use only 1Nm tightening torque on screws, otherwise, damage to screws or thread will occur. There is no need to overtighten screws with excessive force, if you want to be sure that screws are secured and sit perfectly, use thread lock. 

The Retroarms CNC gearbox V2 can take any spring of your choice, but be aware that stronger springs will result in lower durability.

!! Do not use MAXX cylinder head !! or cylinder heads with front rubber padding!!
The Maxx cylinder heads (and other cylinder heads with frontal shock absorbing pads). Good idea, but not an effective design cylinder head, where you put a soft rubber pad on the front of the cylinder head, which works as a shock absorber in the gearbox. The front soft rubber pad turns the cylinder head into a jackhammer causing the cylinder pins to break or the gearbox. The same effect is caused by incorrect cylinder head size.

The installation of inner parts and the gearbox requires professional knowledge, experience, and skills. The airsoft and Gel Blaster markets consist of numerous manufacturers, each producing components in various sizes. Unlike engineering ISO standards, there is no uniformity in this industry. This lack of standardization results in many inner and outer parts from different manufacturers being similar products but with differing dimensions. Therefore, we recommend using only parts from manufacturers that produce V2 gearbox parts. RetroArms advises using parts from Tokyo Marui, as they are compatible with RetroArms V2 gearbox parts, ensuring no issues with compatibility with our CNC V2 gearbox.
